Whimsical oil on canvas of blue collar men relaxing in what appears to be the classic Italian version of a wine bar, painted in silvery bright blues and reds, measuring 11 3/4" by 15 1/2", **OFFERED WITHOUT THE FRAME PICTURED**, signed at lower left "Mara Mariotti". This is by a twentieth century artist who is listed in the Bolaffi and Comanducci dictionaries of Italian artists, but for some reason I have a difficult time finding auction records or other information on this Roman painter besides what is printed in the original promotional brochure still adhering to the back. The painting's stretcher bears the ink stamp of the original gallery handling the work, "L'Etrusca" Galleria d'Arte, in Roma. My Italian isn't too good, so, I can't make out much of what the brochure is saying, but, it appears that the artist was exhibiting by the late 1960's through early 1970's. The brushstrokes are swirling and distinctive, and the overall color balance between blue and red is remarkable. Condition is excellent, this having come out of the estate of a recently deceased couple. The frame is attractive but not with the painting, in my opinion; though you might purchase it separately. .
