Here we have an authentic 1850s - 60s Victorian purse in brown velvet and Cornflower blue seed beads

The bag came out of an estate in Connecticut . I was told upon purchasing the "lot" of bags, that the estate was of 3 sisters and they made the bags ( I have several all slightly different ) . This makes sense to me as there are 3 of a couple of types .

This bag is a heavy brown velvet with a lining , sewn onto a steel frame with a long oval linked chain . The frame has rust spots and the chain has a few rusted links . The clasp mechanism , a push down pin, works fine . The bag is beaded with cornflower blue glass seed beads . These are all in very good condition , none missing . There is a small end where it is attached to frame hinge that has a bit of wear .

The bag is about 7" x 5.5" , the chain handle , doubled , is 5.75"

The bag has an " old sitting in a trunk for over a 100 years smell " it is not overpowering but it is there .

Thank you for looking at my listing . I am always happy to answer questions and inquiries
