Limoges France Hand Painted Victorian Lady Trinket Box / Powder Jar C. 1890s
Beautiful porcelain powder jar / trinket box. The lid nicely decorated with a hand painted brown eyed Victorian lady in a peach and yellow gown with black and white decoration. She is wearing a comb in her curly blonde hair and has a black shawl and a yellow and is holding a yellow and black fan. The background and the box itself are painted in blue and white. With gold gilding along the rim of the lid and box. Marked on the bottom France in green. This is probably a Limoges mark, circa 1890s. Most likely Tressemann & Vogt
There is a tight crack that extends from the rim of the box to the base, which was at one time professionally repaired. It is very hard to see except on the inside of the box and does not affect the display. Also has some wear to the gilding, but no additional chips, cracks, or restoration.
Measures approximately 3 5/8 inches wide x approximately 2 3/8 inches tall.
