An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver wine goblet has a circular bell-shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot.

The body of this Victorian silver goblet is plain and embellished with a cast and applied emblem of the London Athletic Club, including ribbons with the motto 'Vincit qui patitur' - Conquer who endures.

The oval applied panel is further ornamented with a petasos surmounted the monogram initials 'LAC'; these initials take the place of a caduceus, which appears on the club's emblem.

The drinking vessel surmounts a plain pedestal ornamented with an applied bead decorated knop to the centre.

The foot is embellished with further applied bead ornamentation to the rim.

The underside of the foot bears the retailer's mark 'Rowlands & Frazer, Regent St'.

Condition
This antique sterling silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
The cast and applied decoration is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Please see images 6 and 7 for reference.
