Antique Chunky Vulcanite Chain Link Mourning Necklace Victorian c.1880

An antique vulcanite necklace with graduated links. It is quite chunky with the larger links being 28mm x 19.5mm. Each link is an oval shape with two holes. There is an opening in each link for the original joining. These are quite obvious as typical for vulcanite and some have offset slightly over the years. It is fixed with an metal spring hook which is black enamelled (enamel worn). This would have been used as a mourning necklace at the time. The links are still relatively black, there are hints of green starting to come through. The links are largely matt with the edges being satin.
