Asprey & Co Sterling Silver, 9ct Gold & Enamel Royal Artillery Sweetheart Compact Case, Art Deco Period, Hallmarked 1939 - image 1 of 6

An Art Deco period silver compact of square form by Asprey of London. It has an unusual surface finish with vertical lines and fine squares giving an unusual prismatic effect. It is mounted with two gold stripes and a gold and enamel badge for The Royal Artillery including their Latin moto. The case dates to 1939 and has the London hallmark to the interior. It was likely given as a sweetheart item when the purchaser went to war. Along with the hallmark it is also marked Asprey London and has their initial stamp also.
