Found many years ago in the heart of Chicago is this spectacular and colorful vintage early 1900's Limoges or Austrian hand painted Vase decorated by the Artist, "Edna Plack".
The gorgeous eye-popping Vase measures a robust 17-5/8" tall and have some of the best colors you will ever see. Both sides of the Vase have been decorated and virtually from top to bottom. One side has been decorated with deep red and yellow/burnt orange Mums, while the opposite side has been decorated with purple, pink, and yellow/burnt orange Mums. The background colors include creme forest green to a dark forest green, creme lavender, and creme yellow/burnt orange. Note the shadowing effect of some of the flowers which the artist has used to blend or fade into the background. These are some of the most spectacular and richest color combinations I have ever seen. The Vase has two large and prominent gilded gold handles which add to the overall richness and appearance of the Vase.
The Vase is in excellent condition and totally damage free. The gold gilding is between excellent and pristine.
As you can see, in my outdoor photos, the colorful Vase outshines even the deepest of colorful flowers. This Vase will show extremely well where ever she is displayed. I currently display it on a large Oak Fire Place Mantel in my dining room, though in the past she was in my foyer so that all could see as they entered my home.
The Vase has incised numbers on the underside and was most likely a Limoges or Austrian blank. Edna Plack was an early Chicago Decorator [I have sold other pieces decorated by her and found in Chicago] and competed with the finest Decorating Studio of that era, including Pickard, Donath, Brauer, Stouffer, and Osborne.
