Minnie Luken was a well known and listed artist during the Golden Era at the height of Chicago’s Porcelain decorating craze. Luken originally opened up her own Decorating Studio, the Luken Art Studios, in 1895, about the time that Wilder Pickard was laying the ground work for his world class Pickard Decorating Studio.
In 1912, Ms. Luken worked for the Pickard Studio creating many floral designs while also continuing to run her own Studio at several Chicago sites between 1895-1926. Ms. Luken is well known for her floral creations, specifically Forget me not, Roses, and Mums. A more in-depth bio of Minnie Luken can be found in Alan Reed’s must Pickard Collectors Book.
Wonderfully decorated is this vintage, early 1900's, hand painted Floral Condiment Set by the highly regarded & listed early 19th Century Artist, Minnie Luken.
The beautiful MZ Austria 3-Pc hand painted Floral Condiment Set, with a Tray: 8-7/8" x 5-1/8" and a Pair of Footed Shakers: 3" tall, has been exceptionally decorated with vibrant & lifelike "Forget Me Not", on stem & leaf, against a background of shadow leafing and background colors of cream, light cream blue and a hint of very light pink. Bright fire gold stenciling and an outer rim gold accenting graces the Tray, while the Pair of matching footed Shakers has been heavily gilded on the top, body, and the 3-feet.
The wonderful vintage MZ Austria hand painted "Forget Me Not" Condiment Set is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the extensive bright fire gold excellent with minor rim wear.
The outstanding vintage, circa 1900, hand painted "Forget Me Not" 3-Pc Condiment Set displays a "MZ Austria" mark on the Tray with all 3 Pcs being signed by early Pickard Artist, Minnie "Luken".
