Spectacular Vintage Bavaria 1915 Hand Painted "Plums" 11-5/8" Plate by Listed Artist, "Elsie Bieg"
Artist, Elsie W. Bieg Ms. Elsie Bieg like many of the great Porcelain Decorators of the early 1900’s started her career at one of Chicago’s major Decorating Studios; Frances Studio. In 1915 Ms. Bieg open up her own Chicago China Decorating Studio on the northside of Chicago, called Humboldt Art Studio. The Studio operated from 1915-1928 with the large majority of her creations being Floral & Fruit renderings. Many of her creations were almost exact emulations of popular Pickard creations. To capitalize on her Studio success, Ms. Bieg opened up a retail outlet in downtown Chicago on West Madison Street called the “Madison Art & Gift Shop”, which was quite successful. This is a fine Bavaria vintage 1915 hand painted Fruit Decor Plate, which measures a large 11-5/8" wide, that has been wonderfully decorated with large & lifelike "Plums", on stem & leaf, against a background of shadow leafing and wonderful background colors of light cream lavender, light sea green, cream, light brown, burnt orange brown. and a light cream brown. A very fancy scallop outer rim, heavily gilded in bright fire gold, adds to the Plate's beauty.
The outstanding vintage Bavaria 1915 hand painted Fruit Decor Plate is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with minor wear & with the heavy bright gilded gold excellent throughout. [Please view Photos].
