Beautiful & Delicate J.C. Bavaria & Pickard Studio of Chicago 1905 Hand Painted "Strawberry" 8-5/8" Plate by the Artist, "Edward Gibson"
Fresh from a North Carolina vintage Estate comes this beautiful, early 1900's Pickard Studio of Chicago Fruit Plate decorated on a J.C. Louise Bavaria Blank.
Edward Gibson was one of Pickard's earliest Artist working for the Studio from 1903 to 1910. Gibson was a very accomplished Artist and noted especially for his Pansies, Orchids, and Narissus Designs. Eventually Gibson opened up his own Chicago Decorating Studio called the International Art Studio. Later in life Gibson an art supply dealer and China Painter Instructor.
The gorgeous Pickard Studio vintage 1900's hand painted Fruit Plate, which measures 8-3/4" wide, has been lavishly decorated with large & lifelike "Strawberries", on stem & leaf, against a background of off-white, light and iridescent green. Two thin bands of bright gilded gold and a heavy outer gold border adds to the beauty of the beautiful Plate.
The attractive Pickard Studio vintage hand painted "Strawberry" Plate is in excellent condition & totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the gold being excellent with only a hint of wear.
The charming vintage "Strawberry" Plate displays a double mark; "J.C. Louise Bavaria" mark and Pickard Studio Mark # 5, which was used from 1905--1910. Studio Artist, Edward "E. Gibson" signed the Plate.
