Spectacular Museum Quality Meissen 19th Century Hand Painted Children & Animal Figural Blown Out Humidor
Wonderfully decorated with exceptional and outstanding blown out decor is this outstanding 19th Century hand painted unmarked Meissen Children & Animal Figural Humidor.
The exquisite Meissen Figural Humidor came from the personal Estate of Eileen Barlock of eastern Ohio. Ms. Barlock, who was one of the original founders of the RS Prussia Collectors Club, as well as an author, collected only the very best Porcelain & Furniture during her lifetime. From outstanding vintage Rosewood Furniture, RS Prussia, Gaudy Welsch, Pairpoint Lamps, Meissen, Royal Vienna, and Dresden, her pieces represent some of the rarest items ever assembled.
I was fortunate to view this beautiful, one of a kind, fabulous Meissen Figural Humidor, in Eileen's home in southeast Ohio a number of years ago. She prominently displayed this wonderful piece in her living room.
The gorgeous hand painted Meissen Figural & Animal Humidor, which measures 8-1/2" tall, 19-1/2" around [as measures to the outer edge of the Children Figures] and over 6" wide, has been lavishly decorated from top to bottom. The Humidor Lid displays a large detail brown Rabbit, half out of his rabbit hole playing a wooden flute against a bed of beautiful bed of Pink & Blue blown out flowers. The gorgeous and detailed base displays three Children figures dressed in rich Period clothing; one as a Maiden, with a bow in his hair, holding out a Goblet requesting a refill, a 2nd one dressed in a colorful long jacket as an Aristocrat with his Plumed Hat and shooting a Bow, and a 3rd as a Baby, in distress, covering her ears. Between the three Children figures are rich and colorful blown out Daisies and Roses set against a rich carpet of green grass. The flared base, as well as the top rim has been accented in gilded gold adding to its beauty. The outstanding detail, artwork, and presentation is just unmatched !
The Meissen 19th Century Hand Painted Children & Animal Figural Blown Out Humidor is in excellent and remarkable condition for its age and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with a few minor nips on a couple of the flower petals and what appears to be an old nip on the end of the baby finger of the figure dressed as an Aristocrat and two small nips on the Humidor rim. Please do examine all my Photos and closeups for any additional questions.
On the underside appears to be an incised number and another number in the color of blue.
This is a important and major piece and may be much older, possibly an 18th Century creation. The fabulous Hand Painted Children & Animal Figural Blown Out Humidor shows and display exceptionally well.
