Ms. Elsie Bieg like many of the great Porcelain Decorators of the early 1900’s started her career at one of Chicago’s major Decorating Studios; Frances Studio. In 1915 Ms. Bieg open up her own Chicago China Decorating Studio on the northside of Chicago, called Humboldt Art Studio. The Studio operated from 1915-1928 with the large majority of her creations being Floral & Fruit renderings. Many of her creations were almost exact emulations of popular Pickard creations. To capitalize on her Studio success, Ms. Bieg opened up a retail outlet in downtown Chicago on West Madison Street called the “Madison Art & Gift Shop”, which was quite successful. More information on this wonderful early Chicago listed Artist can be found in Alan Reed’s Pickard Collectors Book including ½ Page dedicated to her Porcelain Decorating Studio, Pages 263-264.

This is a beautiful example of Ms. Bieg outstanding artwork.........a beautiful hand painted Floral Bon-bon Dish decorated on a Japan Blank.

of light cream yellow, and hints of very light cream pink. The fancy 3-Sided & 3-Handle mold displays cut out handles gilded in bright fire gold.
