Spectacular Rosenthal Bavaria & Osborne Studio of Chicago 1914 Hand Painted "Petite Pink Roses" Heavy Gilded Gold Floral Cracker Jar by Listed Artist, "Asbjorn Osborne"
Osborne Studio started in 1914 in Chicago by founder, Asbjorn Osborne, and soon became one of the top China decorating studios in Chicago, as well as in America. They competed with the best china decorating studios of the day including Pickard, Brauer, Donath, and Stouffer, as well as hundreds of other smaller professional studios. Asbjorn Osborne, as well as some former Pickard Studio Artist, did much of the Studio decorating. A complete section on the Osborne Art Studio can be found in Reed's Pickard Collectors Book and covers Pages 269--275. Many fine photo examples of Osborne Studio works can be found in the book including several similar pieces by Osborne and the Pickard Studio.
This is an outstanding example of an early 1900 hand painted Floral Cracker Jar by the highly respected Osborne Studio of Chicago.
The gorgeous hand painted Osborne Floral Cracker Jar, which measures about 5-1/2" tall & 9-5/8" wide from outer handle to outer handle, has been exceptionally decorated, on both sides with a large grouping of "Petite Pink Roses", on stem & leaf, against a background of heavy shadow leafing & background colors of off-white, cream, light cream green, cream green, light cream yellow, & light cream pink. Heavy & brilliant gilded fire gold covers the finial and much of the lid. Added heavy fire gold graces the bottom of the Cracker Jar as well as the two large handles. The combination of colors with the heavy fire gold is just outstanding !
