12-1/2" Gorgeous Limoges France & J.H.Stouffer Studio of Chicago 1906 Hand Painted "Reflecting Water Lily" Floral Charger by Listed Artist, "Samuel Heap"

The Artist, Samuel Heap, born in England in 1873, emigrated to the U.S. in 1896. Originally his professional career started with one of the numerous Trenton, NJ Pottery Companies. He came to Chicago in 1904, most likely at the beckoning of Wilder Pickard. Pickard would often recruit young professional artist from the Pottery Studios of New Jersey. Heap decorated for Pickard from 1904 through 1905 and was well known for his Fruit and Flower designs & creations. When Jacob Stouffer opened his well known and famous J.H.Stouffer Studio in 1905 on the southside of Chicago, it became very convenient for Heap, who was also a southside Chicago resident, to move over to the new Studio. Heap stayed with the J.H.Stouffer Studio well into the late 1920's producing numerous popular Floral & Fruit designs for the Studio. Samuel Heap is listed as both a Pickard Artist & Stouffer Artist in Alan Reed's Pickard Collectors Book. Photos of a number of his fine creations can be found in the Collector Book.

This is an exceptional example of Samuel Heap's outstanding works; a beautiful Limoges France & J.H.Stouffer Studio early 1900's hand painted "Reflecting Lily" Charger. The use of colors and the presentation are wonderful giving the attractive large 12-1/2" Charger great eye appeal. A heavy and fancy scallop gold outer border adds to the beauty and richness of this wonderful art creation.

The outstanding Limoges & Stouffer hand painted "Reflecting Water Lily" Charger is in very good condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage.
The gold is excellent with very minor wear and a small touch up at the 9:00 area that the photos cannot pick up.

The attractive hand painted "Reflecting Water Lily" Charger displays a double mark; "Limoges, France" and J.H.Stouffer's Studio Mark # 4, which was used from 1906--1914. The Studio Artist, Samuel Heap has boldly signed his art creation on the front side.

The wonderful hand painted J.H.Stouffer Studio "Reflecting Water Lily" Charger shows exceptionally well.
