Large & Iconic 17" x 15" D & C France 1900 Hand Painted "The Storm" Scenic Plaque
My photos hardly do justice to this incredible vintage piece of Art, a beautiful early 1900 hand painted Scenic Plaque depicting a painting of the famous "The Storm" originally painted by French artist Pierre Auguste Cot, which now hangs in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The attractive D & C France Limoges hand painted Scenic Plaque, which measures a massive 17" x 15" in Frame & 12-1/2" x 10-3/8" out of Frame, displays a young couple desperately running down a path, trying to cover their heads, as a dark thunderstorm approaches. Please note the excellent artwork throughout.
The outstanding D & C France Scenic Plaque is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the exception of a minor background scratch[see photo]. The very ornate original wooden frame does have a few minor issues as noted in my closeup photo. Additionally, a re-matting of the Plaque would be appropriate and substantially enhance the stunning beauty of the Scenic Plaque.
The beautiful "The Storm" Scenic Plaque displays an early "D & C France" Limoges mark.
The gorgeous France "The Storm" Scenic Plaque shows and displays exceptionally well.
