Outstanding 16" Pickard Studio of Chicago 1912 Hand Painted "Italian Garden" Tray by the Artist, "Paul Gasper"
The well known and listed Artist, Paul Gasper, decorated for Pickard Studio of Chicago from 1903 thru 1918. Gasper learned his china decorating at the world famous Royal Bonn Pottery at Bonn-on-the-Rhine, Germany in the 1880’s. When Gasper emigrated to the U.S. in 1891, he worked for both the Cook Pottery Co of Trenton, NJ and then for the very popular Roseville Pottery Co. of Zaneville, OH. before coming to the Pickard Studio of Chicago.
At the Pickard Studio, Gasper specialized in both figural, as well as floral decorating. Many of Pickard early Floral creations were Paul Gasper’s designs….including both Poppy and Daisies.
An extensive bio on the listed Pickard Artist, Paul Gasper can be found in Alan Reed’s Pickard Collectors Book, as well as a dozen fine examples of his outstanding hand painted creations.
This is a fine example of Gasper's outstanding work.............the very popular "Italian Garden" decorated on a large 16" long x 5-1/2" wide Tray. Heavy gilded gold outlines the outstanding art creation giving the Tray an impressive appearance where ever she is displayed.
The gorgeous hand painted Pickard Studio "Italian Garden" Tray is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the heavy gilded gold excellent throughout with almost no wear.
The beautiful "Italian Garden" hand painted Tray displays the Pickard Mark # 7, which was used from 1912-18. The gorgeous Tray has been signed by Pickard Artist Paul "Gasper".
