Outstanding Sevres Bavaria Early 1900's Hand Painted Vibrant "Violets" 8-3/4" Plate by the Pickard Artist, "William Breidel"
William Breidel, who originally emigrated from Austria in about 1906. His high skill as an Artist soon found him decorating for the premier Studio of the Century, Pickard Studio of Chicago.
Early on Breidel did Floral designs for Pickard, but his real strength was in Scenic & Figural works. His outstanding “Praying Mohammedan” was so well received, that it was feature in Pickard’s 1909 color Catalog.
In 1910 Breidel opened his own Chicago decorating studio and operated it for four years creating Floral, Scenic, & Figural works.
A bio and almost ½ dozen of his outstanding works are featured in Alan Reed’s Pickard Collectors Book.
This is an outstanding example of William Breidel outstanding works; a beautiful vintage 1900's Floral Plate decorated on a Sevres Bavaria blank.
The beautiful Bavaria Floral Plate, which measures 8-1`/2" wide, has been lavishly decorated with vibrant & lifelike "Violets" on stem and leaf against a background of heavy shadow leafing and background colors of light cream yellow, and shades of light purple. A heavy fire gold gilded outer border, outlined in black, adds to the beauty of this outstanding art creation.
The attractive Bavaria hand painted "Violets" Plate is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the gold being excellent.
The gorgeous lifelike vibrant "Violets" Plate displays a "Sevres Bavaria" mark and has been signed by the highly regarded Pickard Artist, William "Breidel".
