Outstanding Osborne Studio of Chicago 1900's "Deep Burnt Orange Poppy" 12-1/2" Center Piece Bowl by "Asbhorn Osborne"
Osborne Studio started in 1914 in Chicago by founder, Asbjorn Osborne, and soon became one of the top China decorating studios in Chicago, as well as in America. They competed with the best china decorating studios of the day including Pickard, Brauer, Donath, and Stouffer, as well as hundreds of other smaller professional studios. Asbjorn Osborne, as well as some former Pickard Studio Artist, did much of the Studio decorating. A complete section on the Osborne Art Studio can be found in Reed's Pickard Collectors Book and covers Pages 269--275. Many fine photo examples of Osborne Studio works can be found in the book including several similar pieces by Osborne and the Pickard Studio.
This is a fabulous and fairly scarce hand painted Floral Center Piece Bowl by the "Osborne Studio" circa 1914.
The beautiful hand painted Floral Bowl, which measures a large 12-1/2" wide & 2-3/8" tall, has been elaborately decorated with "Deep Burnt Orange Poppies", outlined in gilded gold with gold leafing and stem against a high gloss black background and then outlined with a brilliant wide band of etched and gilded gold Floating Lilies. The outstanding artwork, beautiful presentation and use of colors are all examples of a master decorator.
The gorgeous "Burnt Orange Poppy" Floral Center Piece Bowl is in very good condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage. The gold is exceptional throughout.
