Exquisite Weller Art Pottery, Circa 1914, Scarce Marbelized Butterscotch 9-1/8" Vase
This is an outstanding Weller Vase, circa 1914, with naturalistic matte colors on this gorgeous Marbelized piece.
The beautiful Art Pottery Vase measures 9-1/8" tall, with a top width of 2-3/8", a large bulbous lower section measuring nearly 17" around, and a flared base measuring 3-1/4" wide. This old Weller Art Pottery Vase has outstanding marbelize colors of shades of butterscotch in the decoration with sharp mold details and intricate strong coloration. The high gloss glaze finish was developed in Zanesville Ohio back in 1914 right after the standard glaze era of glossy finishes but with a brand new contemporary look. [See Huxford's Book on Weller Pottery, Page 161].
The gorgeous and highly colorful Weller Vase is in good condition and totally free of hairlines, cracks, but does have a very small "fritz" and a tiny factory firing line on the underside near the outer base [see last photo]. There is very fine age crazing on the Vase.
The Vase displays an early "Weller" mark.
The attractive Weller Butterscotch Marbelize Vase shows and displays exceptionally well.
