Gorgeous Rosenthal & Pickard Studios of Chicago 1905 Hand Painted "Wild Pink & White Roses" 8-3/4" Plate by the Listed Pickard Artist, "Curtis Marker"
The well known Chicago Decorator, Curtis Marker, was only 23 years old when he went to work as a China Decorator for the greatest decorating house of the era, Pickard Studio of Chicago. Marker had a long tenure at Pickard, working for them several different times from 1905—1930. In between, Marker help open up the International Art Studio [1910-11] with two other Pickard Artist, Alfred Keates & Edward Gibson. Marker was known for his high quality china decorating including his CALA LILY, ITALIAN GARDEN, YOSIMITE FALLS, WILDWOOD, and HAWTHORNE. Few Pickard Artist or competing Studios did better decorating than Marker’s “ROSELAND” and “DESERTED GARDEN” designs. This is a fine example of a Pickard Studios of Chicago hand painted Floral Plate, designed by the well known listed Artist, "Curtis Marker".
The beautiful hand painted Floral Plate, which measures 8-3/4" wide, has been decorated with "Wild Pink & White Roses" on stem and leaf against a background of shadow leafing and background colors of cream, cream yellow, cream green, and cream pink. Gilded gold scrolling emanates from the gold outer rim.
The attractive Pickard Floral Plate is in very good condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage........with the gold being excellent.
The outstanding Floral Plate displays an early Rosenthal mark and the Pickard Studio Mark # 4, which was used from 1903-1905. The Pickard Artist, Curtis "Marker" has signed the Plate.
