Outstanding Bavaria 1900's Hand Painted Vibrant "Violet" Gild Gold Handle Flower Basket With Flared Pedestal Base by the Pickard Artist, "Carl Koenig"

Carl Koenig was probably the most prolific China Decorator of the 20th Century. Koenig was 24 when he started decorating in 1905 for the most prestigious China Studio in America, Pickard Studio of Chicago. Koenig was well known for his fruits and floral rendering. After leaving Pickard in 1912, Koenig did stints at two of Chicago other elite studios; Julius Brauer Studio and the Edward Donath Studios. Koenig opened his own China Decorating Studio on the near north side of Chicago in 1915....and operated for 50+ years to at least 1966 and possibly until 1969. Though suffering through the two World Wars, the Great Depression, and two additional wars before his death, he was remarkable in continuing to find outlets for his outstanding works. No known listed China Decorator had more longevity than Carl Koenig. The Pickard Collectors Book by Alan Reed has extensive information and a bio on Koenig, as well as many examples of his fine works.

This is a fine example of Carl Koenig's incredible decorating talent.......a beautiful unmarked Bavaria 1900's hand painted Floral Basket.

The beautiful hand painted Floral Basket, which measures 6" long, 5-1/4" tall, & 3-1/2" wide, has been wonderfully decorated with vibrant lifelike "Violets" on stem and leaf against a background of cream, light cream yellow, and cream powder blue. The inside of the Basket displays additional "Violets" against an iridescent white background. Heavy gild gold handles, shaped like a stem, a gilded rim, and heavy gild gold pedestal base adds additional beauty to this incredible creation.

The attractive "Violets" Floral Basket is in excellent condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with the gold being nearly pristine. It truly appears that the Basket was a display piece only.

The gorgeous "Violets" Floral Basket has been signed by the listed Pickard Artist, "C. Koenig".

Whether for a vanity, bath, dresser, or counter the beautiful "Violets" Basket shows and displays exceptionally well.
