Minnie Luken was a well known and listed artist during the Golden Era at the height of Chicago's Porcelain decorating craze. Luken originally opened up her own Decorating Studio, the Luken Art Studios, in 1895, about the time that Wilder Pickard way laying the ground work for his world class Pickard Decorating Studio. In 1912, Ms. Luken worked for the Pickard Studio producing many floral designs. Luken continued to run her own Studio at several Chicago sites from 1895-1926. She is well known for her floral creations, specifically Forget me not, Roses, Mums, and Poppies. A more in-depth bio of Minnie Luken can be found in Alan Reed's must Pickard Collectors Book.
This is an early 1900's creation by Minnie Luken......a beautiful hand painted "Burnt Orange Poppy" Sugar Shaker. The beautiful Sugar Shaker measures about 5-3/8" tall and has been expertly decorated with large & lifelike "Burnt Orange Poppies" on stem and leaf against a cream background. The heavy gilded gold top adds additional beauty to the beautiful Sugar Shaker.
The "Poppy" Sugar Shaker is in good condition and free of chips, cracks, or other damage with only the lightest of wear.
The attractive hand painted "Poppy" Sugar Shaker is marked "Favorite Bavaria" and is signed by the listed Artist, "Minnie Luken".
