M.H. Dorothy was an early Chicago China Painter who decorated in the glory years of Chicago's China Painting revolution....circa 1910-20. Operating out of his home, he competed successfully with the greatest China Decorating Studios of the day....including Pickard, Donath, Brauer, Osborne, and Stouffer. The high quality and expertise shown in his artwork speaks for itself.
This is a beautiful hand painted creation by M.H. Dorothy.....a Floral Squatty Vase measuring a extra large 12-5/8" wide & about 5-3/8" high. The beautiful Vase has been decorated with vibrant "Deep Red & Pink Roses" on stem and leaf against background colors of cream, light cream yellow, cream blue, cream green, light cream red, and hints of cream burnt orange. An iridescent white has been used to decorate the wide flared brim and throat of the gorgeous Vase. The superb artwork, wonderful use of colors, and outstanding presentation are all the earmarks of a master decorator.
The attractive "Roses" Vase is in good condition and totally free of chips, cracks, or other damage with insignificant light wear.
The superb "Roses" Vase displays an early "Vienna Austria" mark and has been signed by the early 1900's Chicago Artist, "M.H. Dorothy".
