Beautiful Bavaria 1900's Hand Painted "Wild Roses" Matching Cup,Saucer, & Plate by Listed Edward Donath Studio Artist, "Myrtle Peplow"
This is a wonderful matched Bavaria Set of Cup, Saucer, & Plate, most likely decorated by the Edward W. Donath Studio of Chicago....circa early 1900's. The beautiful matched pieces came from a partial Set decorated by several different early Chicago artists including Myrtle Peplow of the Edward W. Donath Studio of Chicago, who decorated this beautiful Set.
The hand painted match Set includes a Cup 2-3/8"], Saucer [5-7/8"], & Plate [6-1/8"] and displays large life-like "Wild Roses" on stem and leaf against a background of shadow leafing and a background color of creme and a creme blue. Heavy gold decor, outlined in black has been added to each of the pieces.....as well as on the rims and handles. The artwork, use of colors, and presentation are all the earmarks of a professional decorator.
The beautiful Set is in excellent condition and totally damage free of nicks, chips, cracks, or other damage....with the gold approaching pristine. It is obvious that the 100 year old Set was for display only.
The Set shows several different Bavaria marks including "Bavaria" on the Plate...and "Paar Bavaria Taeger & Co." on the Cup & Saucer. The listed Edward Donath Studio Artist, Myrtle "Peplow" has signed the Plate.
The beautiful Wild Roses decor Set shows and displays exceptionally well.
