This is a fine pair of bugs! Each flying insect is made of silver-tone pot metal and set with glowing red fire-polished (possibly Czech) rhinestones. An unusual crackle-look mint green and white plastic cabochon serves as part of the body. The two bugs are joined at the lower legs with a double silver-tone chain, for double the impact!
Each insect measures 2" east-west by 1 ½" north-south by ¼" deep. The shorter chain is 4 ½" long, with the second chain being slightly longer. The large green stones are about ¼" in diameter. All stones are glued in. They have pin stem and safety clasp closures. The closures work well but the catches are somewhat stiff; I believe they will ease with use. The metal may have had a gold wash at one time, but that has mostly worn away. The chains might not be original to the set--the pins may have started out as a pair that the previous owner decided to make into a chatelaine. This unusual pair of figurals are in very good vintage condition.
