Stunning Vintage Scottish 925 Sterling Silver Celtic Lindisfarne Heart and Bird Themed Brooch and Earring Jewellery set by Douglas Scott - Tain Silver - Hallmarked Edinburgh 1993.

This stunning vintage Sterling Silver Jewellery Parure was designed and created by the celebrated Scottish designer Douglas Scott of Tain Silver. It features a Celtic themed Heart shaped Brooch comprising of two mirrored Birds with a set of matching Bird Drop Earrings complete with box. This product design was inspired by the famous Book of Lindisfarne.

Tain silver was founded over 25 years ago by Dougie and Rita Scott. Each design has been created by Dougie who has always had a passion for both Celtic Art and the Pictish standing stones, which can be found locally.

His inspirations come from the intricate designs of the richly decorated Celtic gospels and the enigmatic Pictish symbol stones. Tain, on the banks of the Dornoch Firth, is the ancient and oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland. Founded in Easter Ross in the 11th century as a place of pilgrimage for St Duthus, it is surrounded by a landscape of famous Pictish monuments and ancient rock art, and renowned as a centre of silversmithing for more than three centuries.

The Brooch measures 4.5cm x 3.2cm and has a Rollover Clasp, The Earrings have Hook Fastenings and have a drop length of 4.7cm and a width of 1cm. Together the set weighs 13.9g. All items are stamped with the Brand Name 'TAIN' and the Makers Mark 'D.S' and are also fully Hallmarked for Edinburgh 1993. All items are in excellent vintage condition as shown and are very wearable. The set comes complete with its box as shown.
