This charming vintage 1960s hat by Fabiani New York is a wide brim straw in the orange-red color referred to as tangelo.
The hat has a band of multi-colored grosgrain ribbon at the base of the crown with a jaunty bow in the back.
Alberto Fabiani, (also seen spelled Fabini) born around 1910 in Tivoli, Italy is best known for his uncluttered tailoring and conservative designs. Fabiani was among the designers who led an Italian renaissance during the 1950s. He and his wife, also a well-known fashion designer, in 1962 briefly joined their companies to form Simonetta et Fabiani in Paris, but this company only lasted two years. Fabiani then returned to his own individual company, from which he retired in 1974.
The hat has an interior circumference of 21 ½ inches. The brim circumference is 46 inches.
The hat is clean, fresh and in outstanding condition. There is a slight "bump" to the back of the hat for long storage. This should be easily refreshed by steaming, although it is barely noticeable.
The interior of the hat displays a label: "Designed by Fabiani New York Rome."
A stunning hat and a wonderful addition to your vintage collection.
