Diane von Furstenberg - Vintage 1979 Silk Twill Scarf - 30 x 31" - Marbled Design
From the famous Belgian born fashion designer - Diane von Furstenberg this beautiful vintage silk scarf is a classic design that never goes out of style. The same marbled design seen on rare books and manuscript endpapers - at the beginning and end of books.
Hard to believe this scarf purchased back in 1979 from one of the high fashion Manhattan department stores has never been worn. It is in very good condition, I don't see any spots or stains however, i do see a pull - please see the last photo pointing to the white border area where there is a pull but since it is on the solid white it has hard to spot, but I point it out.
The scarf is a neutral beige color with white and brown marbled designs, the shade of brown is the color of a cognac.
The background of Diane von Furstenberg is most interesting, born in Belgium - in 1969 she married the German Prince Egon von Furstenberg and a year later they left Europe and moved to New York City. In 1970 she opened her own fashion design business and was also a model. It was not until 1974 when she designed her iconic "wrap dress" that made her famous and today she is still head of her fashion house that also designs accessories - handbags, scarves, jewelry and also a perfume collection. Her original "wrap dress" design is still popular today.
The label - Diane Von Furstenberg (R) B&B Baar & Beards Inc. - All Silk, Made in Japan - Dry Clean Only. The edge is machine stitched.
