1960’s ‘Coblentz Original’ Silk Dupioni Fold Over Clutch

In 1935 Louis Coblentz brings Paris to the heart of New York where
he opened his ‘French’ handbag company. The intention of his
handbag company was to introduce the typical “Parisian” smartness
in the conservative and carefully made handbags.

This wonderful fold over clutch is made from a navy blue Dupioni Silk,
known for its crisp, textured appearance with visible slubs due to the
unique weaving technique considered a desirable feature and adds to
the unique character. The clutch closure is a classic gold tone with a large
kiss clasp, in pristine condition. In addition there are 3 interior slip pockets
and a hard clear plastic comb, never used. Stamped USA

Gold tone purse frame 7”

This mid-century silk clutch is in excellent condition, very gently used.
The exterior is pristine as the purse has been packed away since 1965.
The gold satin lining is in excellent condition however, there is evidence
of use, most notably is the (makeup?) stain as seen in the photos.
