Fine Antique Hand Colored / Tinted Steel Engraving entitled: Kady Brownell in Army costume ~ Engraved by George P. Perine. Print is in very good condition with light foxing along the outer edges of the margin and a faint spot of foxing on her uniform near her right arm. Left binding edge untrimmed. Print measures approximately 8 3/4'' x 5 1/2''.
Kady Brownell (1842 – 1915) was a female soldier with the Union army during the Civil War. Alongside her husband, Robert, Kady trained with the soldiers and fought in the First Battle of Bull Run.
