Antique Hand Colored Steel Engraving ~ Portrait of Letitia Elizabeth Landon ~ (1802-1838). Print measures approximately 8 x 10 3/4" and is in very good condition with tiny tears aloong the outer edges of the margins and light foxing and two small stains in the lower right margin. Most all should completely cover when matted and print will frame nicely. Print retains original cover sheet with biography. Small biographical text in cellophane envelope taped to the back of the print.
Letitia Elizabeth Landon began contributing to a weekly literary magazine called Literary Gazette, eventually becoming one of its editors. She published several poetry collections including The Fate of Adelaide and The Improvisatrice. In addition to poetry, L. E. L., as she was known to her readers, she wrote several novels and gained wide literary fame.
