Fine antique hand colored engraving featuring portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. Smaller picture under portrait shows the signing of The Declaration of Independence. Smaller image above portrait shows two allegorical females adding Franklin's name to a plaque bearing the names of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson. After the painting by J.A. Duplessis, engraved by W.J. Edwards in 1856. Print measures approximately 9 5/8" x 6 1/8" and is in very good condition with small chips/tears along the edges of the margin and a small spot of foxing in the lower left corner of the margin. Small envelope with biography taped to back of print. Should mat and frame nicely.
