This is Effanbee's 16" John Wayne "American Symbol of the West", the second of Effanbee's Legend Series, made only in 1981. John is dressed in authentic Western wear - western designed tan pants with a brown belt an off white long sleeved collared western shirt with four decorative tan buttons down the front which matches his pants, a brown velveteen open vest, with a light orange bandana tied around his neck. Underneath his clothes, John wears a complete set of red long johns. His outfit is completed with brown cowboy boots with black soles. His face is particularly well executed with John's undeniable rugged features - sculptured and painted brown wavy hair, parted on his left side, blue eyes, brown eyebrows and just the beginning of a smile on his face. This John Wayne set is complete with his original off white felt cowboy hat which matches his shirt, trimmed with a brown leather-like belt, which also matches the belt John wears around his waist. The set also contains the original plastic replica of the rifle John carried in many of his movies. Included is a copy of the letter from Wayne Enterprises dated January, 1981, describing the inception and development of this unique tribute to "The Duke". John comes in his original box, which shows slight wear, and he has the original
Effanbee wrist tag.
