A stunning 1950's/1960's Murano red art glass bowl with controlled bubbles and applied grape bunches in clear glass.
This unique centrepiece has been skilfully hand blown into a basket shape with a graduated bullicante pattern. The edges are enhanced with clear glass in a scalloped pattern, and two bunches of solid glass grapes with leaves have been applied at either end of the bowl. The base is ground smooth, the 'stems' of the grape bunches are rough at the ends where the glass was broken off the rod.
Although there is no signature or sticker, this piece is most likely by Alfredo Barbini based on the quality of the glass and the graduated bubble pattern.
Measurements are: 12cm / 4.75" high; 36cm / 14" wide; 24cm / 9.5" deep - 10cm / 4" across the base
Condition is overall excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. The underside is very good with scratches and minor nibbles to the edge.
