Pair of Early 20th Century Louis XV Carved Walnut Armchairs from Provence

Crafted in Provence, France circa 1920, each comfortable fauteuil stands on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulder, and ending with escargot feet. Both armchairs have a tall and arched back, a wide and deep seat with open curved armrests decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, and a scalloped apron embellished with hand carved shell and foliate motif on all four sides. Both antique fauteuils are upholstered with a floral chenille fabric in the beige palette, and fixed with piping trim. The large provincial armchairs are in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina throughout. Use this elegant pair of heavily carved armchairs to decorate a study or office.
