When I first saw this I thought it was a locket. Because I only saw the 'hinges' on the left side. Clearly when you look at it you see the prongs on all sides, but you know how your mind just takes something in and assumes what it is before you have a chance to really process? Well that's what happened to me. I was only slightly disappointed until I really looked at the piece.
Beautiful, painted pansies are the feature of this lovely antique brooch. C catch style pin, the rear is held to the front painted piece by 6 prongs. It is approximately 1 3/4 x 3/4" in size and truly one of a kind. No markings of any kind. It is in very good condition, especially considering the age.
This piece is from my personal collection, having acquired it several years ago at an estate sale. As with any vintage jewelry, this piece may have evidence of handling, storage or prior love - including minor or light scratches, oxidation, patina of metal or other blemishes.
