This vintage cigarette case is fully hallmarked but the maker's mark is partially missing. It was made in Sheffield in 1934-35 for Birks and includes the retailer's name with the hallmarks. The case is engine turned and has a geometric cartouche that has never been monogrammed. It is lightly curved to fit comfortably in a pocket and measures 3 1/4 by 3 inches and is 1/4 inches deep measured on the outside. The case weighs 73.5 grams. The interior of the case is gilded and has some variation in color, although it looks much better in person than in the photos. It has hallmarks on both sides and is engraved on one side with "Veritas Omnia Vincit", (Truth Conquers All Things). The case is missing the elastic straps but is in excellent condition overall with only few signs of age or use that do not detract.
