Today I'm offering two stunning Occupied Japan Saucers and a Japanese Vase, all of which were part of our collection. From 1945 through 1952 the American military occupied Japan after the end of WWII. All items made in Japan between 1945 and 1952 that where sent out of the country were marked Made in Occupied Japan. However many items were unmarked because companies refused because they felt that America couldn't tell them what to do. Below is a description of each piece and their condition:
1.)Two Occupied Japan Hand-painted Saucers features two Japanese men and one Japanese lady. The saucers measure 4 ¾” in diameter. Both saucers show the same content but since they're hand-painted neither are quite exactly the same. The colors chosen by the artist are both stunning and brilliant. On the back of each saucer it reads Made in Occupied Japan in blue paint.
**Condition: Both Occupied Japan Saucers are in very good condition. The front of both saucers show light surface wear from being handled. The back of both saucers are clean except there is surface wear on the inner circle from use and being placed on a table.
2.)Beautiful Japanese Hand-painted Vase has the same features as both saucers and is marked Made In Japan. The vase measures 6 ¼” tall and the opening at the top of the vase measures 2” in diameter. Featured on the vase are the same two Japanese men and Japanese lady that are found on both saucers. The vase also features a raised dragon's body that goes around the vase ending with a dragon's head rising up near the top of the vase. The only noticeable difference is the brown color on the saucers are lighter than the brown used on the vase.
**Condition: The vase is in very good condition, clean and bright, no chips or cracks. Some of the gold is rubbed off around the top opening of the vase. There are 15 white raised dots on the body of the dragon that are broken off. These are very tiny and hardly noticeable. There is about 3 tiny pieces of the golden yellow lines missing, again hardly noticeable. There is also rubbing on the bottom circle from being used and setting on a table or shelf.
A wonderful gift for anyone who collects Japan and Occupied Japan Items. Also a great gift to yourself to add to your collection! Thank you for looking!
