Pictured are two Life Magazines, one is dated November 13th, 1939, featuring Claudette Colbert and the other is dated August 9th, 1948, featuring Marlene Dietrich. They are two of the world’s most famous movie stars. During the 1930's and the 1940's famous movie stars often were seen on the front covers of Life Magazines especially during WWII. Just about every movie star spent time entertaining members of the Armed Forces in USO's here at home or overseas as a way to say thank you for helping to keep America free. Below is a description and condition of each Life Magazine:
Life Magazine dated November 13, 1939, Volume 7, Number 20, 88 pages, features Claudette Colbert on the cover standing at her home in Holmby Hills which she designed and decorated herself. The magazine has 88 pages packed with some great stories relating to WWII and a number of really cool vintage ads.
**Condition: The front and back covers are in good+ condition, front cover is clean and back cover has very light soiling. The inside pages are in very good condition, clean. *Covers: There is wear, two tiny tears, a tiny piece missing from the top of the spine, and a small piece missing from the bottom of the spine. There is minor chipping along the right front edge and the bottom back edge. *Inside pages: There are two inside pages that are not attached to the rest of the inside pages and the right edges of these two inside pages have chipping along them.
Life Magazine dated August 9, 1948, Volume 25, Number 6, 112 pages, features a stunning Marlene Dietrich on the front cover posing for Life in her apartment in New York after recently learning she became a grandmother. The magazine has 112 pages featuring some interesting stories and articles and many really neat ads.
**Condition: The front and back covers are in very good condition, clean. The inside pages are in very good condition, clean. *Covers: There is wear to the spine and three tiny tears along the spine. There is a small stain at the bottom edge of the back cover. *Inside pages: There is very minor chipping along the right edge of four inside pages.
