Today I'm offering for sale a rare pair of 1930’s Fun-Timer Children’s Fire Engine Shoes along with a shoe box from the 1930's made by Kali-Sten-iks Children's Shoe Company. I'm always excited when I come across something really neat to put in our shop and this by far is one of the coolest items I’ve ever found.
I can't imagine the look on the child's face when seeing these unique fire truck shoes in a shoe store window and trying to persuade his mom to buy them for him. The shoes came in a Kali-Stan-iks shoe box when I bought them at an auction. On the outside of the box it reads, a 2 Tone Blu OX size 10 shoes. The fire truck shoes found inside are a child's size 7. Listed below is a description of the box and the shoes.
1.)Kali-sten-iks Childrens Shoes Box: Box measures 4 ¾” wide x 8 7/8” long. Around the outside of the box are silhouettes of children at play. From the clothing they're wearing you can date this box to the 1930's. The original tissue paper is still found inside the box.
**Condition of box: This box is in Good Condition. The outside of the shoe box has light surface wear with some tape found on two corners and two small tears of the top lid. There is wear along most of the edges.
2.)1930’s Fun-Timer Children’s Fire Truck Shoes: Both shoes come with rubber wheels with red fabric hubcaps. The shoes measure 2 ¾” wide at the widest part x 6 ¾” long. There are ladders found on each side of the back part of the shoe. Each shoe has a white leather grill and white leather flames on the front along with a plastic windshield. Each shoe came with a fire truck bell that rang when the child walked. The right shoe is missing its bell.
The red surface is made soft red fabric. There is black leather around the sole of the shoe and the sole is leather. The inside of the shoes are red and off-white soft fabric. All 4 tires rotate. On the bottom of each shoe are red letters and numbers all of which are worn. The only two words that can be made out is “Fun-Timer”.
**Condition of shoes: These Fun-Timer Fire Engine Shoes are in good- condition. But for being over 80 years old it is surprising that they survived making it possible for everyone today to see them. The left shoe has the same conditions as the right shoe but this shoe has the bell and still rings when you shake it.
If you collect vintage children's clothing or shoes then just imagine a happy little girl or boy walking down the street shaking their feet so everyone can hear the bells ringing loud and strong. A fantastic gift or birthday present for the fire engine person in your life.
