*Here's a little history about Hopalong Cassidy(William Boyd) that you may find quite interesting. From 1935 thru 1948 he starred in 48 movies as Hopalong Cassidy. Both youngsters and adults were big fans of Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, and Gene Autry. William Boyd was a very smart businessman and with that new invention called TV becoming popular in 1948 he purchased the rights to all his movies. He released them in 1948 on TV and became the most popular western star on TV for the next 8 years. He sold all kinds of merchandise with his name making millions of dollars. The kids liked him but it was the older women that fell in love with this handsome 50 year old, no nonsense, two-gun cowpoke who rode a white stallion named Topper that fought fair, loved kids, animals, the rights of everyone, and always got the bad guy.
When he made personal appearances he was always in his outfit and sometimes with Topper. He never charged for youngsters to visit with him and always told them to honor their parents, friends, and to never hurt animals.
Growing up in the 1950's The Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and Hopalong Cassidy were all this little boy's heroes. Yea they had guns and yes they shot the bad guys when needed but these four western stars taught youngsters right from wrong, good from evil, and always reminded us to get to church on Sunday, and to honor our parents, teachers, and police officers in their home town. Imagine that fictional characters could teach values to kids of my generation and our real life figures today have very little to offer our children today.
**Please note that the large pictures in the center with the labels on each side in the photo do not come with the labels. “Only the labels are for sale.” I just thought it would be nice to show the large pictures with the labels in some of the photos.
A nice group of Hopalong Cassidy items to give a parent or grandparent that collected Hopalong Cassidy Bond Bread Labels as a child.
