Pictured for sale is a Lucky Joe Bank from the 1950's. The bank most times came with paper lips or paper bow ties that you could adhere to the bank. And still others I’ve seen had the face painted by the owner.
This front of the bank features a face---eyes, ears, nose, lips, cheeks, chin, collar, and a bow-tie. The back of the bank features the hair and a collar. This bank measures 4 1/2" tall. On the lid it reads “Nash's Prepared Mustard, Lucky Joe, Nash-Underwood Inc., Chicago”. Also on the lid it reads “Made from Mustard Seed, Vinegar, Salt Turmeric and other Spices, Net WT. 8 1/2 oz”. On the bottom it reads “Design Patent No. 112688 1.
**Condition: The screw-on lid is in good condition with light surface wear and bends in the metal slot where you would add the coins. The bottle is in near mint condition, very clean. This bank was definitely used as a bank because of the bends in the metal slot. Other than that it is in excellent condition.
What a neat bank to add to any bank collection. A very nice display piece for a shelf in a kitchen or living room!
