Also included is a 1974 Hallmark Raggedy Ann and Andy Hexagon Mobile Kit, copyright The Bobbs-Merrill Co., Hallmark Cards, Inc. This mobile is easy to make and very colorful. This kit is so cute and in very good condition.
The hardcover book is Copyrighted Great Britain in 1940 and published by the Johnny Gruelle Company of New York, New York. It was printed and bound in the U.S.A. by Kingsport Press, Inc., Kingsport, Tenn. The book has 95 pages and consists of 10 Chapters along with 27 color Illustrations and another 44 black and white illustrations beautifully drawn by the author.
This is one of the 25 books written and Illustrated by Johnny Gruelle from 1918 until his death in 1938. After his death his younger brother, Justin, Illustrated at least 4 stories and later his other son, Worth Gruelle, Illustrated another 4 stories into the 1960's.
The rag doll with red yarn for hair and her triangle nose received a patent on September 17th, 1915. The dolls were originally hand made by the Volland Toy Company of Mushegon, Michigan, between 1918 thru 1926 making over 75,000 dolls. It wasn't until 1920 that Raggedy Ann was joined in her stories by her brother, Raggedy Andy, who was dressed in a sailor suit and hat. From that moment on Raggedy Ann and Andy became the most recognized rag dolls worldwide second only to the Teddy Bear.

**Condition of the book: The front and back covers of the book are in good- condition, clean and bright. The spine is very solid and in very good condition. The inside pages are in good+ to very good condition, very clean and bright.
*Covers: There is normal edge wear from being handled, both covers have surface wear, all the corners are worn and bumped, and the most wear is at the bottom right front corner where that part of the cover is white and lifted away from the corner. There are two small areas of the back cover where the cover is worn off. (Please see photos for a better look at the condition of this book).
*Inside Pages: Four of the 95 inside pages have very tiny blemishes on them. There is a crease mark at the top right corner of the first inside page and at the corner on Page 37. The inside page that has the copyright on it and the next page each have a small piece of the surface rubbed off.
Overall for being 75 years old, the inside pages are very clean and in fantastic condition.
Raggedy Ann and the Golden Butterfly is a very special book to read to your children or grandchildren. It will leave them with fond memories of their childhood. This book is definitely a wonderful book of which memories are made.
