Pistol Pete Maravich Cover of 1968-69 Sports Illustrated Magazines
Pictured for sale are Two Sports Illustrated Magazines dated March 4, 1968, and December 1, 1969, each featuring on the cover the greatest college basketball player of all time the one and only "Pistol Pete Maravich", who played for Louisiana State University. People brag about how good Michael Jordon was in college but Pete Maravich was a far better player and truly was the most entertaining player and the greatest creative offensive talent who shot baskets with either hand, from every angle, with no look passes, ever to lace up a pair of sneakers.
Pete was born in 1947 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and passed away in 1988 from a heart attack. During his first game as a freshman he scored 50 points and finished leading the team in scoring 741 points in his first year. During his college career he scored 3,667 points and averaged 44.2 points per game. However, his freshman totals were not credited to his overall point total because at that time the NACC freshman points weren't allowed in players final stats. Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that the three point line didn't exist in college, so along with his freshman points it's estimated he may have scored close to 6000 points while playing at LSU. Listed below is each magazine, its condition, and stories found inside the magazines:

Growing up I was fortunate to see Pete Maravich play ball. If you would like to see Pete play just go on the internet and watch some of the games that are available and you'll see what I mean. Also there were two movies on the life of Pistol Pete that I'm sure you'll find very fun to watch.
A fantastic gift or birthday present for the college basketball fan in your family or for someone that collects special sports memorabilia. Enjoy Pete's floppy soaks and his magic on the court one more time.
