1. "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott; This is a Illustrated Junior Library Edition published by Grosset & Dunlap of New York with fantastic color and black and white illustrations by Louis Jambor. The special contents of this edition are copyrighted in 1947 by Grosset & Dunlap, Inc. During the 1940's and 1950's Grosset & Dunlap published dozens of famous novels in hopes that parents and teachers could get their youngsters to read a good book in and out of the class room. The book has 546 pages with 47 chapters and dozens of beautiful illustrations.
**Condition of Little Women Book: The front and back covers are in very good condition, very clean and bright. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. *Covers: There are tiny bumps on each corner and very minor wear at the top and bottom of the spine. The spine is solid and all the pages are attached. *Inside pages: There are two small tears along one edge of one inside page.
2. "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte; This is a World War II Special Edition. This book, while produced under war time conditions in full compliance with government regulations for the conservation of paper and other essential materials, is complete and unabridged. The War Production Board was established on January 16, 1942, by Franklin D. Roosevelt to help ration paper materials. This book is a third edition and was published by Grosset & Dunlap between 1942 and 1944. There are 451 pages with no illustrations found inside the book. However, on the front of the dust jacket is a stunning photo of Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine, the stars of the 20th Century-Fox Production of Jane Eyre. This issue is highly collectable. There were only a small number published because of the conservation of paper during WWII.
**Condition of Jane Eyre Book: The dust jacket is in fair+ condition. The front and back covers are in very good condition, very clean and bright. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. *Dust Jacket: Clean with small tears and chipping along its edges. *Covers: Minor bumps at each corner and minor wear at the top and bottom of the spine. *Inside pages: There is remnants of a name sticker which has been removed on the inside of the front cover.
3. "The Bells of St. Mary's", a novel by George Victor Martin, from the screenplay by Dudley Nichols. This first edition book was published by Grosset & Dunlap and copyrighted in 1946 by Rainbow Productions, Inc. The movie starred Bing Crosby, Ingrid Bergman, Henry Travers, William Gargan, Ruth Donnelly, Joan Carroll, Martha Sleeper, Rhys Williams, Dickie Tyler, and Una O'Connor. It was produced and directed by Leo McCarey, screenplay by Dudley Nichols, story by Leo McCarey, and released by RKO-Radio Pictures, Inc. This is the movie edition with 192 pages and 34 wonderful photos from one of the greatest motion pictures ever made. Read about Father O'Malley as he is charged with the impossible assignment of saving St. Mary's School or the heartbreaking alternative of closing its doors forever. Bing Crosby also played Father O'Malley the year before in the award winning motion picture Going My Way and once again gave an awarding winning performance.
**Condition: The dust jacket is in fair condition, clean and bright. The front and back covers are in good condition, very clean and bright. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. *Dust Jacket: Small to medium tears, chipping, and quite a few pieces missing from the dust jacket. *Covers: Corner bumps and wear along the top and bottom edges. *Inside pages: On the title page is the name of the past owner and the date, July 2, 1946, that he received the book, written in green ink. There is a town and state written in pencil on the same title page.
