"Out of The Night When The Full Moon is Bright Comes The Horseman Known As Zorro." Today I'm offering for sale 2 collectible items from the Walt Disney's Adventure Series Zorro, the most watched TV show of 1958. After producing the most watched TV series on TV of 1955--Davy Crocket--Walt Disney created millions of Little Zorro's all across the country making the sign of the "Z" on every thing their little play Zorro swords came in contact with. Today I'm offering a Zorro Boxed Interlocking Jigsaw Puzzle and 9 Walt Disney Topps Zorro Trading Cards, both of which were made in 1958.
The first item is a 1958 Zorro Jigsaw Puzzle, No. 8810, made by Jaymar. The puzzle is titled "The Avenger" which when put together shows Zorro sitting on his powerful horse "Toronado". The puzzle measures 10" x 14".
**Condition of Box: The Box is in fair condition. Two corners on the top and the bottom of the box are taped. There is edge wear, light surface wear, and one side of the top of the box is missing some of the boxes paper design.
**Condition of puzzle: The puzzle is in very good condition.
The second item is Nine 1958 Topps Zorro Gum cards from one of the most popular Topps Gum Card sets ever made. The entire set consisted of 88 cards with scenes from the TV show. The nine cards included are listed below:
Card Number 1—Zorro, fair+ condition, corners bumped and some residue on front of card. Card Number 19---Zorro's Prisoner, very good, one corner bumped.
Card Number 25---The Capitan's Triumph, good condition, corners slightly bumped. Card Number 34---Three Against Zorro, good condition, corners slightly bumped, light crease mark.
Card Number 37---Zorro's Victim, fair+ condition, several crease marks, corners are bumped. Card Number 46---Ruthless Plan, good condition, corners lightly bumped.
Card Number 48---Cruel Tyrant, very good condition, two corners bumped, small crease mark. Card Number 75---The Chase, very good condition, one corner bumped. Card Number 82--- Diego's Guest, very good condition, three corners lightly bumped.
The Zorro TV show aired on ABC from 1957 thru 1959 and starred Guy Williams as Don Diego de la Vega as(Zorro) assuming a duel role in order to overcome the evil ruler in power in Monterey, California, in the year 1820. Zorro memorabilia is still sought after and if found in excellent condition can be quite expensive.
Way back in 1957 I was a little 8 year old boy who was playing Zorro outside all by myself and making believe I was doing battle with the bad guys. I remember breaking my toy sword and then using a wooden stick. I came face to face with the bad guy, my mom's bed sheets hanging from the cloth line. I made the sign of the Z on one sheet which left a big dirty Z on it. I got a wack on my bottom and sent to my room and couldn't watch the show next week. Boy what found memories.
If you collect Zorro or Walt Disney items then this Zorro Puzzle and Zorro Trading Cards will a nice addition to your collection. A neat gift to give your dad if he grew up watching the adventures of Zorro at 8 o'clock on ABC way back in 1957.
