Offered for sale is a rare Playbill and a rare Souvenir Program from 1944 titled Michael Todd's Mexican Hayride performed at the Winter Garden, New York City. As far back as 1939 Michael Todd had produced several very successful shows leading up to Mexican Hayride, which was also highly successful. Oh by the way, Michael Todd was Elizabeth Taylor's third husband.
On the front cover of the Souvenir Program is a small picture of the star of the show, Bobby Clark. Also there's a special artist rendition of a Young Mexican Girl drawn by the famous Illustrator, A. Varoa. On the cover of the Playbill is the star of the show, Bobby Clark. Listed below is each item, its condition, and some of the contents found in each publication:
1.)The Playbill for The Winter Garden show, Mexican Hayride. The Playbill has 40 pages filled with information about the play, loads of items about shows, and plenty of great vintage ads. All the music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. Also quite a few other pieces of music by Cole Porter were left out of the play. Other plays appearing in New York's leading theatres were Angel Street, One Touch of Venus with Mary Martin, Carmen Jones, Follow the Girls, Catherine Was Great with Mae West, Chicken Every Sunday, School for Brides with Roscoe Karns, Pick-Up Girl, Song of Broadway, Mexican Hayride, Ten Little Indians, Oklahoma and Elizabeth with Onslow Stevens.
**Condition of The Playbill: The front and back covers are in very good condition, very clean. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean. There is a ¼" tear along the right edge of the front cover and a 1/8" tear along the bottom edge of the back cover. There is a crease mark at the top right corner of the front cover.
2.)The Souvenir Program from the show, Mexican Hayride, could be purchased along with the Playbill and features a lovely young lady on the front cover drawn by A. Varoa. The Program has 17 pages filled with loads of pictures and all kinds of facts about the show. The players in the show were---Bobby Clark, June Havoc, George Givot, Wilbur Evans, Corinna Mura, Paul Haakon, Raul and Eva Reyes, Sergio De Karlo, Luba Malina, Bobby Lane and Claire, Edith Meiser, Hermanos Williams Trio, Paul Haakon, Eleanor Tennis, Marta Nita, Bill Callahan, and Eric Roberts. Also there are 4 pages showing scenes from the show.
**Condition of Souvenir Program: The front and back covers are in good- condition, very clean. The inside page are in very good condition, very clean. There is minor wear to the spine, a ¼" tear at the top and a ¾" tear at the bottom of the spine. There is chipping along the top and right edges, a tiny tear at the bottom edge, and tiny crease marks at the two right corners of the front cover. There is chipping along the top edge, a piece missing at the top left corner, a crease mark at the bottom left corner, a ¼" tear at the left edge of the back cover. There is a tiny crease mark at the top right corner of the first inside page.
