Pictured for sale are over 200 Sunday Reading Eagle Yogi Bear and Tiger Color Comics from Sunday, March 12th, 1972, through Sunday, May 11th, 1980. That's over two years of Sunday Comic Sections. These were all published in the Sunday Reading Eagle Newspaper from Reading, Pennsylvania.
This section consists of four color pages--two pages of children activities, one page of Tiger Comic Strips, and one page of Yogi Bear Comic Strips. One activity page is called Uncle Nugent's Funland, a Bell McClure Syndicate Feature. The other activity page is called Cappy Dick by Field Enterprises, Incorporated. Each page has at least 6 different activities.
The "Tiger" Comic Strip was created by Bud Blake and was featured for over thirty years in newspapers around the country. It was about a little boy named Tiger and a bunch of his friends who seem to be around seven or eight years old. In each strip the youngsters go about conquering every day problems in very humorous ways. Bud Blake was presented with the highest honor a comic strip creator could receive--The Best Humor Strip of The Year Award.
The next full page comic strip is 'Yogi bear", who of course is ":Smarter Then The Average Bear". You get to follow the antics of Yogi and his friends, Bo Bo, Ranger Smith and his girlfriend Cindy. Only Yogi could find every way possible to get into trouble or solve problems that he created and then try to get away with.
**Condition: All but four of the papers are clean and bright and in excellent condition. Only four of the papers have a few small chips on the edges. The activity pages have never been worked on. Overall the papers are in near mint condition for being over 40 years old.
Any collector of vintage comic strips and/or really love Yogi bear, will get a big kick out of reading the adventures of the one and only Yogi bear in Jelly Stone National Park.
