Offered for sale is this extremely rare Latin America Edition Time Weekly Newsmagazine dated August 29th, 1960. The summer Olympics were being held in Rome, Italy, and featured on the cover is Rafer Johnson, the U.S. Decathlon Star. What makes this issue so rare is the fact that it was published in Cuba by Compafifa Editors, T.L.I. Concepcion Number 1, Cerro, Habana, Cuba, under arrangement with Time, Inc. This issue is neither censored nor re-edited. The word censored is very important because in December 1959, Fidel Castro overturned the Cuban government and on January 1st, 1960, finally ousted Batista. After taking control of Cuba, months later he nationalized all U.S. business's so this issue of Time is possibly one of the very last un-censored or last issues ever published inside of Cuba.
This Time Magazine has 60 pages filled with current events from around the world. Many of the articles pertained to the turbulent troubles around Latin America and in Africa. Also featured are stories on entertainment, sports, and the political problems facing America.
