This 1942 "For God and Country" Patriotic Tablet and Health-For-Victory Club August 1943 Issue Meal Planning Guide plus 88 recipes are two wonderful pieces of WWII Memorabilia. Below is a description of each item and its condition:
1.)Patriotic Tablet titled "For God And Country" by Copr. C. Moss Litho, Made in U.S.A., dated 1942. The top page is a stunning picture featuring a young soldier and his wife or mother in church honoring his God and country---perhaps knowing he's about to leave for duty overseas. The picture also shows a Bible and an American Flag. The tablet measures 8" wide x 10" long.
**Condition of Tablet: The For God And Country Patriotic Tablet is in very good condition, very clean and bright. There is a ½" tear at the top of the picture right at the red binding(this does not affect the picture at all), tiny crease marks at each of the four corners of the picture, wear at the left and right edges of the red binding at top of tablet, and the first several pages have been torn from the tablet. On the first page of the tablet are several lines written in pencil by the previous owner which you'll find quite interesting.
2.)Health-For-Victory Club Meal Planning Guide August 1943 Issue with 88 recipes and the "Basic 7" Food Groups, is prepared by Home Economics Institute, Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., Mansfield, Ohio. This cookbook has 66 pages with 88 recipes for your "Health in Victory while preparing and feeding your family properly as you play a big part in winning the war through a good nutrition program". On the front cover in a Navy uniform is a young Roland Sprague of Tottenville, Staten Island. The little boy on the cover should be around 74 years old now. Maybe you know him or you know the members of his family. This would be a great gift to give them. The book measures 6" wide x 9" long. The holes punched in the cook book came that way from Westinghouse.
**Condition of Cookbook: The front and back covers are in good condition, very clean and bright. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. **Covers: There is minor wear to the spine edge and minor chipping at the top and bottom of the spine, light wear along the edges, tiny crease marks at the bottom right front corner and the top left back corner, and light wear to the front and back covers.
Two special items that show the sacrifice families endured while trying to put healthy meals on the table and the thought of a young man that is possibly about to give his life to protect his country. God Bless Our Vets!!!!
